On August 15th of the lunar calendar, Yi people celebrate Sun and Moon
Festival for worshiping the sun and the moon instead
of family get-together.
According to legend, there were 7 suns and 7 moons in the sky in ancient times, withering crops and grasses to death. People could
hardly live. Later, a hero shot 6 suns and moons, and the rest hid out of fear. It was the hero who led the people to
sacrifice with buns and cakes that the rest came out to give shines to the
world. Therefore, Yi people celebrate Sun and Moon Festival on August 15th.
